Periodical collection
The National Library holds both retrospective and current local periodicals. The Periodical section of the National Library is one of the richest collection of periodicals relating to Mauritius covering a wide range of subjects such as agriculture, economy, education, history, literature, religion, science and tourism. The retrospective collection of periodicals consists of some 200 Mauritiana titles dating back to 1820. The National Library's current collection of periodicals is largely built through the action of legal deposit legislation. Some 60 current titles are deposited at the National Library. Bibliographical details of all periodicals are accessible via our OPAC system.
